Restoration of 1905 7/9hp Completed Ian Coomber, VBOA Chairman
Back in April 2006 we put some pictures of the diassembled 1905 3 cylinder 7/9hp car which had been bought by Nigel Gray, owner of Vauxhall retailer Motor Bodies in Luton.
We are pleased to be able to report that the car is now finished and was given its first public outing to Shuttleworth on May 22nd.
Nigel reports that the car is running well, reaching 20-25mph on the flat but that "It certainly dies on the hills,or what I thought previously were minor inclines!".
The restoration is to a very fine standard and brings the known total of these first Luton built cars to 3 - one in the Vauxhall Heritage Collection, one in very active use by Reis van Leeuwen in The Netherlands and Nigel's car.
Pictures of the completed car have been added to the original April 2006 gallery item.
