Nordic Vauxhall & Bedford International Winter Rally - 16th to 17th February 2008 Ian Coomber, VBOA Chairman
Kent Hortlund of the Svenska Vauxhallklubben tells us that they are running their first Big Winter Rally which they hope will attract participants from many countries.
Kent explains: "The idea is that you will be a part of something special with strong natural experiences and most of all get a chance to be together and get to know each other.
It will be a good opportunity to take your Bedford camper or Vauxhall on a winter test. Just remember that it´s not the condition of the vehicle that´s important, it´s that you´re coming so we all have a chance to get acquainted.
You will be driving through snowy and desolate areas with a lot of moose and reindeers. So it will be a rally that all family members will remember with joy for many years to come.
Along the route there will be a number of controls with questions and somewhere in the midle there will be a break for food. Later in the evening there will be a prize ceremony when the most lucky ones will be celebrated.
If the weather allows it, there will be a chance for the brave ones to take their cars for a race on an ice-track on a lake somewhere in the Nordic woods.
The start for the Rally will be at the old sawmill in Långviksvallen, Tavelsjö. First start 10.00 am. Tavelsjö is located 670 km north of Stockholm.
The destination for this is in Norsjö where we are staying for the night at Hotell Norsjö.
Vehicles older than 30 years are not included in the winter tyre law. It means that 1978 models and before can drive on summer tyres.
Long distance participants that need rooms for Friday night or more, can stay in our homes, motels or youth hostel. Call for more information.
We will not deny anyone that comes on the last day but please let us know as soon as possible. It will make our planning so much easier if we know how many are coming."
