VBOA Vauxhall Heritage Centre Open Day Ian Coomber, VBOA Chairman
Once again I was unable to attend this end of season event but Barry Harvey and John Ankerman reported that all went to plan, including our four year run of good luck with the weather.
A satisfyingly large group of volunteers helped to get the VBOA flags and banners in place and by 11.00am things were running OK in hot sunshine!
We were pleased to see more Clubs using the employee car park for their own club stands this year so the area immediately outside the Heritage Centre was much easier to move about in. There was a generally good turn-out although attendance may have been a fraction down on last year's later event - perhaps there was more competition with other events this year, perhaps people were just using more of the car park area.
The raffle and simulator went well: Chris Childers (VOC 1903-1957) won one pair of the Vauxhall donated BTCC tickets for her son and Kevin Vincent won the other. The Golden Welly for fastest time of the day on the VXR race simulator went to Max Clark - congratulations!
Thanks to Vauxhall for their continued support of this popular event.
